NEIL Lennon could ring the changes to plug his leaky defence at Burnley this weekend.

After conceding 10 goals in their last three games the Wanderers boss is considering bringing Derik Osede, Lawrie Wilson and David Wheater to the squad bound for Turf Moor.

Derik and Wilson sat out the 4-3 defeat to QPR, while Wheater was used as a half-time substitute, but with Lennon anxious to arrest a worrying defensive trend it is understood he is assessing his options across the back four.

More than 1,500 tickets have been sold in the away end at Burnley as Wanderers return for the international break but those making the short trip should not expect a new striker to be in place for the weekend.

It remains all quiet on the incoming front but heading the other way, Liam Trotter reckons a loan move to Nottingham Forest can reignite his season.

The midfielder should seal a one-month deal at the City Ground today where he hopes to find the first-team football he has been denied under Lennon.

Trotter has played just one minute for the Whites this term and is looking forward to the opportunity to link-up with ex-Wanderers boss Dougie Freedman in the East Midlands.

At present the move is only due to last for 28 days but the former Millwall man seems keen to establish himself at Forest, where the loan could potentially be extended towards Christmas.

He said: “It’s been a frustrating couple of months for me, as I had a really good pre-season, but then picked up a couple of minor knocks, which forced me out of the Bolton side.

“Bolton is, of course, a great club and I have no regrets about joining them last year. As a professional footballer though, game-time is important, so going on loan to Forest; which has an equally great pedigree, will definitely help me to kick-on this season.

“I have a lot of respect for Dougie as a manager, and the way he likes to play football. I enjoyed working with him at Bolton.

“There were other offers on the table to go elsewhere [on loan], but for me it was about finding the right fit and a club that could get the best out of me to enable me to fulfil my potential.

“It’s now about seizing the opportunity over the next month or so at Forest and getting back into the fray of, hopefully, playing regular first-team football.”
