WANDERERS Ladies continued their warm-up for the new season with a 3-2 defeat against high-flying Morecambe in a friendly.
Shell Saunders created the opening goal for Carmen Troiano to finish with a deft lob over the Shrimps’ keeper.
The Premier League side equalised immediately and started to show their class, keeping Britt Jackson busy in the Bolton goal.
A second goal arrived – even though the referees' assistant appeared to have flagged for offside – but once again Wanderers dug in to draw level, Rachel Whitelegg teeing up Gabby Yates.
Mitchell Kirkman-Ryan felt she should have had a penalty early in the second half and then rattled the post with another effort before Morecambe snatched victory with a late goal.
