BURNDEN’S club captains Marcus Taylor and Gwen Kinloch led from the front at the Northern Cross Country Championships in Leeds.
In a huge field of the north’s top cross country runners, all members put in highly impressive performances. Taylor covered the 12k men’s course at Harewood House in 51 minutes exactly while Kinloch was first to complete the 8k women’s course in 41:35.
Steve Nolan crossed the line in the men’s race in 53:57, followed by Paul Duke in 54:04, George Butler in 56:10, Keith Thomas in 56:13 and Chris Greenall in 1:01:38.
Anne Ferguson was the second Burnden member to finish the women’s course, posting a time of 43:03.
Kate Ellis finished in 44:21 and Kath Page was next in 55:26.
Five members travelled to Lytham for the St Anne’s 10-Mile race. Phil Holden was the first of them to finish in 1:28:54, followed by Karen Taylor in 1:43:19, Debra Hennessey in 1:43:19, Susan Wood in 1:47:57 and Gillian McGowan in 2:22:37.
