THE Bolton Table Tennis League took a break from league matches as the last 16 battled it out in round three of the Warburton Cup.

The top half of the draw was now combined with the bottom half.

Division Two’s Bolton TTC B took the place in the next round and the bragging rights when they met their A team.

The match swung one way then the other as both teams won games. The key player for the B team was Sam Greenhalgh who only conceded two of his 12 games.

His performance, together with his side's 72.5 start, helped them to a 415.5-322.0 victory.

Division Two’s Meadow Ben C knocked out Division One Wingates.

The higher division side put up a good show with Dave Smith and Alan Bradbury winning all but two of their 12 games, while Atul Sheth lost just three.

However, Meadow Ben C's 149.5 start proved too much for Wingates to overcome as they went down 427.5-384.

It was a similar story in the clash of Hilton's E and F teams.

Division One’s Hilton E won four more games than Division Three’s F team, but the start of 121.5 was easily enough to enable the lower division side to move into the next round with a 455.5-338 victory.

The quarter-finals will take place in the week commencing February 19 as will the quarter-finals of the Divisional Cups.
