A TEAM of walking footballers from Bolton won their first-ever five-a-side tournament.
The USN Bolton Arena took two teams to the tournament at Chorley Football Club to compete against sides from Wigan, Penwortham, Huddersfield Town and three from Chorley FC.
Both Bolton teams reached the semi-finals which went to penalties, one of the local sides going out and the other reaching the final after goalkeeper Dennis Cudahy kept a cool head to slot home the fifth spot-kick.
There was nothing to choose between Bolton and Wigan Walkers in the final which also went to a penalty shootout in which Cudahy saved three out of five and David Barker, Derek Howarth and Gibson Rogers converted theirs.
