THIS week's nostalgia picture was brought in by reader Phil Warren and features the Astley Bridge CC side that won their only Bolton League title to date in 1970.

Phil, who hails from Astley Bridge and played for the team at the time, said: "Those were happy times and we are still the only Astley Bridge team to win the championship.

"It was a good side and we had seven in that team who came through the ranks."

Phil remembers some of the line-up, that includes members of the committee as well as players, and added: "From left on the front row are Jeff Shuttleworth, Philip Drinkwater, Keith Eccleshare, me, Mick Holden, Derek South; second row, Kenubi Patel, Bill Beardmore (captain), Ken Bowling, Fred Guest.

"On the back row are the pro, John Cockroft, and Geoff Peddie.

"It would be good to know if anyone can remember any of the other names on the picture."

Do you recognise any faces?

Email david.pye@nqnw.co.uk with any memories.

THE second photograph was published last Thursday and features the Little Hulton CC side from 1996.

We asked for any memories of that team or names in the line-up and readers responded.

Tim O'Sullivan on Twitter said: "Good memories and yes we won the league!

"David Platt looks happy to be in the photo and the two Lee brothers were as good blokes as I played with in my time playing cricket.

"That’s also the longest Shanks had his pads on that season. Go LH!"

John Wallwork also tweeted: "Pictured are Craig Howard, Mark Lee, Tim O’Sullivan, Ian Lee, Paul Radcliffe, Steven Crowder, Micky Howard, Wayne Howarth. Rob Clews, Dave Ainsworth and David Platt."
