IT is a great shame Ray Taylor decided to quit as secretary of the Bolton Cricket League over a disagreement with another member or members of the committee.
Taylor has given 28 years’ of service to the BCL in the role and is undoubtedly one of the most skilled and competent cricket administrators around.
He felt it was not possible to continue if he was not able to apply the rules of the league the way he thought he should.
He will be an enormous loss to the league and to Bolton cricket in general.
Taylor was an important figure in helping steer the Bolton League through the choppy waters of local cricket league changes in the area in the last few years, which saw other leagues fold.
To see him then quit over what many would see as a minor in-house issue is surprising and sad.
