PAULA Pilling was fourth in the ladies' event and second F40 at the Don Ashton Memorial fell race in Tockholes.

Pilling completed the 9.4k course with 310 metres of climb in 47mins 6secs.

Paul Duke led home the Burnden contingent in 22nd place overall with his time of 42:27, followed by George Butler in 45:26. Tony Wall was third M60 in 49:47.

Don Nichol (54:15), Mark Butler (56:27) and Louise Wall (65:44) completed the club’s representation.

Jackie Oakes travelled to Ambleside for the Ultimate Trails 22k event – part of the Lakeland Trails series – and she completed the tough course in 3:30:40.

Louise Fox and Emma Walker tackled the Stoodley Pike Fell Race with Fox finishing in a time of 36:37 and Walker crossing the line in 36:57.

Clare McKenna, Julie Riddle and Diane Smith were also in the Lakes but in the water at the Derwentwater’s Epic Lakes swim events.

McKenna covered the 500m course in 10:46 while Riddle, at her first open-water event, followed her in with a time of 13:57.

Smith tackled the one-mile course and finished in 39:45.
