PHIL Parkinson believes Josh Magennis can become a terrace favourite with Wanderers.

The £200,000 capture from Charlton Athletic opened his account 18 minutes into his debut at West Brom on Saturday and got rave reviews for a hard-working performance.

Parkinson had been looking to bring the striker into the club since January and his attitude to the game could make him a good fit with the Bolton support.

“He ticks a lot of boxes on what a number nine has to do,” he told The Bolton News.

“He runs the channels, gets us up the pitch, and on 70 minutes we wondered whether we should bring him off – but he found another gear.

“Fans love players who score goals but I think Bolton fans appreciate someone who gives their all, and Josh certainly did against West Brom.

“We’re pleased with him, and like the rest of the team we’re not going to start jumping up and down about it because it was one game, but it’s a very good start.”
