WANDERERS are hoping to do a double deal for Birmingham City’s Jonathan Grounds and David Stockdale.
Talks are underway to bring the Blues pair on loan to the University of Bolton Stadium by the end of the month, although an agreement has not yet been reached.
Sources at St Andrew’s suggest both have been told they are not in Garry Monk’s first team plans as he looks to create room in his budget to fall in line with FFP regulations.
Phil Parkinson has been looking for a goalkeeper and a left-back to challenge Ben Alnwick and Andy Taylor, respectively.
Tomorrow’s 5pm deadline concerns only permanent transfers, so it is likely Wanderers will focus their attention on landing a striker by the close of business.
But speaking this afternoon, club chairman Ken Anderson confirmed: “They are players we have had interest in.”
Meanwhile, Wanderers appear to have missed out on Everton midfielder Callum Connelly, who is on his way to Wigan Athletic on loan.
The young midfielder was one of a few options the Whites were considering but the 20-year-old has opted to follow his team-mate Antonee Robinson to the DW Stadium.
