THIS week's delve into the picture archives at The Bolton News has unearthed this team picture of Egerton Cricket Club from June 1987.

There is no other information accompanying the picture and we would like to know more about the team.

Did you play for Egerton at the time or do you recognise any of the faces in the line-up?

Do you recall how the team fared that season in the Bolton League?

THE second photograph was taken during the Hamer Cup semi-final between Astley Bridge and Heaton in July 1969 and was published in last week's sporting nostalgia section.

While the game did not spark any memories for reader Paul Tatton, it did trigger his recollections of the final that year when he played for Farnworth as they beat Heaton's semi-final conquerers, Astley Bridge, to win the Hamer Cup that season.

Paul, who is now groundsman at Westhoughton CC and chairman of the Lancashire Groundsman's Association, said: "It was a unique situation in that final as we bowled Astley Bridge out for just 36 at Eagley.

"I was 25 years old at the time and a bowler of out-swingers, while at the other end I was complemented by inswinging bowler Jim Bennett.

"We also had Brian Wallwork at short leg who was superb in that position and quick to react off our bowling if the batsmen nudged it to that space.

"With Peter Stafford as wicketkeeper as well it was a good team and I have some good memories.

"I went on to be a pro at Atherton and play for Lancashire and Leicestershire seconds.

"These days I look after the grounds at Westhoughton and Haydock and enjoy still being involved in cricket."
