WANDERERS allowed a two-goal lead to slip in their first home game of the season to end up with only a point against Bristol City.

After a drab first half the game exploded into life with three goals in seven second-half minutes.

Will Buckley and Josh Magennis put Wanderers ahead before Andreas Wiemann got the Robins back into the game with 26 minutes left to play.

Bristol City may have felt it was the least they deserved, having dominated possession in the opening 45 minutes they also had a free-kick from Niclas Eliasson bounce off the woodwork and another big penalty shout turned down by referee John Brooks.

Parkinson was upset that Wiemann had been offside in the build-up to the first goal and was left shaking his head when Jamie Paterson levelled matters nine minutes before the end.

The Bolton boss claimed there had been a foul on David Wheater as the visitors broke out after a corner, the ball cleverly worked to Paterson to finish via the inside of the post.

“Four points from the opening two games is good,” Parkinson said after the final whistle. “I thought the first half we were a little bit passive in the way we played. We didn’t get tight enough all over the pitch.

“We hung in there and upped the game in the second half. We got tighter and 10 yards up the pitch. We got two good goals.

“It’s always disappointing to lose a lead. But the first goal was offside and the second, Wheater got poleaxed in the middle of the pitch. Neither goal should have stood.

“In saying that, we got countered on, irrespective of the foul we could have done better. We could have marked better in the second phase of play for the first goal too.

“For me, we should have been talking about three points because the goals shouldn’t have stood.”

Parkinson felt there had been some nervousness in the team early on but said the second half performance was much more to his liking.

“We had four debutants who hadn’t played at home, even in pre-season, and there was a little bit of edginess. I said to the lads at half time ‘we’ve had the warm-up’.

“The lads responded very well, especially Josh Magennnis. I think he upped his level and that gave the team a lift,” he added.
