FORMER Bolton Cricket League secretary Ray Taylor is joining the Lancashire Cricket Foundation.

Taylor recently ended his 28-year tenure as BCL secretary after giving 38 years of service to the league in total, spending the first decade as junior league secretary.

Now he has been named by Lancashire Cricket as the secretary for the recreational committee and senior leagues sub-committee and will take up his new role with immediate effect.

John Murphy, clubs and leagues' director and chairman of the recreational committee said: "With over 30 years’ experience in local cricket, Ray will add considerable value and support in the Lancashire Cricket Foundation’s objectives and aims for the future of league cricket in the Lancashire area.

"Ray’s relationships and standing within the game of cricket will be a great asset to Lancashire Cricket.

“A sub-committee has been formed and the focus will be very much on having a common approach across the county on issues such as player discipline, umpire recruitment and retention, playing facilities, player movement, overseas players, junior cricket development and fixture planning.

“Lancashire Cricket Foundation will continue to work with, and support, all other leagues throughout the already well-established recreation committee, as the club looks to increase participation throughout the North West.

“Our approach will be to collaborate and discuss with all concerned to try and gain some degree of consensus and we will be supported by Paul Bedford, ECB Leagues and Competitions Manager, in the process.”

Taylor said: "I am delighted to take up the position of secretary for the recreational committee and senior league sub-committee with the Lancashire Cricket Foundation.

“Following 38 years of service to the Bolton Cricket League, I am looking forward to a new challenge and to help continue and support the strong work that has already been done.

"The Lancashire Cricket Foundation are intent on driving league cricket forward, and I look forward to working with other members of the organisation."
