ANDY Staveley and Anne Ferguson came away from the Catherine Dowdall Darwen Gala Fell Race with age-group successes.
The demanding five-mile course with more than 1,000 feet of climb follows a scenic route and Staveley covered it in style, winning the M55 category and coming third overall in a time of 37mins 15secs.
Ferguson won the women’s race and was therefore comfortably first F60 in 44:16. Don Nichol was third M60 in 49:57.
Seven members took part in the fourth race in the Sale Sizzler 5k series with Rob Short first home in a superb time of 17:29 – the only one under 18 minutes.
Lee White was fourth M45 in 18:16 and Mel Walker second M75 in 23:50.
Marcus Taylor completed the course in 18:48, with Ed Ashton close behind in 19:03.
David Broadhurst recorded a time of 22:17 and Helen Shan came home in 25:52.
Lorraine Halwood completed her 43rd marathon in the Whitworth trail event, although it ended up being a 28-miler which she completed in 6:04:11.
Paula Pilling took part in the half-marathon event and finished second in the women’s race and first F40 with a time of 2:09:59.
Marcus Chester was the first of three members to complete the Birchwood 10k.
He posted 39:58 with Mark Jackson next in 41:57 and Mel Walker first M75 in 50:09.
Adam Holmes tackled the Fleetwood Half Marathon and came home in 2:09:25, while Jackie Oakes travelled to Lancaster for the Riverside Half and recorded a time of 1:49:55.
