KEARSLEY captain Cameron Murray believes the outcome of Sunday's Hamer Cup final will come down to fine margins.

The Springfield Road men take on Farnworth in a battle of two of the Bolton League heavyweights which is impossible to predict.

The sides have a win apiece in their league encounters this season and both will have deputy professionals with their regular paid men having returned home.

Murray, whose side will be looking for their first Hamer Cup title since 2009 on Sunday, will be backed by a big following with a 51-seater coach taking supporters to the game at Westhoughton Cricket Club.

And he is looking to his players to rise to the occasion.

"It's a big day for the club and all the supporters are up for it," he said.

"We have quite a good fan base who follow us around everywhere and it's going to be a big day for them.

"Hopefully we can give them a good performance but it will be a tough game.

"Whenever we play Farnworth it's tough because they are a good side.

"We're two similar sides and both pros have gone home and we don't know what to expect from our pro and the same for them so it's up to our amateurs to stand up.

"Hopefully we can exploit their weaknesses and it's probably going to come down to those one-percenters in the end; who can run the singles.

"Westhoughton is a nice ground, to be fair probably the best in the league. It will be great to play there in the final and it should be a great occasion."

Before Sunday's big game Kearsley face a trip to Horwich tomorrow in the league where they also have ambitions.

They are currently fifth in the BCL Premiership, nine points behind second-placed Farnworth.

With six points for a win Cameron's men will go level on points with third-placed Horwich if they win, while leaders Walkden need just one victory from their last three games to secure their first league title for a decade.

Cameron said: "It would be nice to finish second and we are capable of doing it.

"Top four is what we want but second is still possible if we stick to our own game and play as we can in the remaining games."
