THE top seven teams in this season's Bolton Cricket League Premiership division will qualify for next season's Lancashire Knockout.

Changes to the format of the county's top amateur cricket competition will see the top seven teams in the Lancashire League, Northern League, Liverpool Competition, Greater Manchester League, Ribblesdale League and Palace Shield also qualifying.

There will be 54 teams in total in the competition, with the top two from the Southport and District League and Greater Manchester Amateur League and the winner from the Westmorland League completing the entries.

The Bolton League are also one of five leagues whose winners and runners-up will be seeded and, as such, given byes in the preliminary round.

The others are the Lancashire League, Northern League, Liverpool Competition and Greater Manchester League.

The remaining 44 clubs will play in the preliminary round, with the 22 winners joining the 10 seeded teams in the first round proper.
