LOSTOCK clinched the Bolton League second team Association title last weekend with a 42-run win at Walkden.

That left them 26 points clear at the top with two games to play.

Batting first they built up a score of 229-5 at The Oval thanks to half centuries from Sam Barlow (61), Harry Stockton (55) and Danny Cockton (55), with a useful unbeaten 22 from Stephen Kaye pushing them over the 200 mark.

Walkden had a good go at the chase, but despite the top five all passing 20 none of them could go on and make a telling contribution.

Harry Morgan top scored with 29, while Ste Thomasson scored (26), James Wilson (28), Tom Gaskill (23) and Mo Razzaq (22) as Asghar Ali collected 3-45.

Adlington failed to capitalise on Walkden's defeat in the battle for the second promotion place as they lost narrowly at Blackrod in a low-scoring game.

Having only managed 86 the visitors really put the pressure on Blackrod led by Zac Green's 4-37.

But in the end Daniel Weaver, with 27, and an unbeaten 25 from Will Powell saw their side home.

Andrew Leyland had played pretty much a lone hand in making 30 for Adlington, with the next highest score 10 as Powell completed a good personal performance by taking 6-25.

It is looking more and more likely that the Adlington versus Walkden game on the final weekend will decide the other promotion place.

Little Lever comprehensively defeated Golborne by 182 runs at Simpsons Fields to keep alive their slim hopes of sneaking into second place and pipping Adlington and Walkden.

Dan Heyes was the star as he not only hit a superb 124 but also chipped in with 3-44 to help dismiss the home side for 111 despite 24 from David Szostock and Craig Ward making 22.

Lever's 293-7 also contained good knocks from Jack Barlow 45, Gareth Moxon 30 and Rory Hulmes 29 as Ian Anders took 4-66.

In the Premiership, Farnworth Social Circle now need just two points to confirm themselves as champions after a seven-wicket victory over Little Hulton.

The home side batted first and, thanks in the main to 4-26 from Jess Bradley, were restricted to 121-9 despite Ian Lee making 33, John Wallwork 32 and Ellis Pearson 20.

Social then reached the target relatively comfortably as Liam Ashworth made 51, Tim Barrow 29 and Stephen French 22.

Zac Hollis was the star for Horwich RMI as they crushed Heaton by 201 runs at Lower Pools.

He raced to his fourth century of the season with an unbeaten 127 in a total of 288-3.

RMI had got off to great start as Phil Cavill (55) and Mark Knowles (57) added 106 for the first wicket and then Hollis ensured the start was not wasted.

Tom McGivern, with 22, and Umar Sheikh (20) provided the only real resistance as Kaleem Asghar's 5-20 and Max Adamson's 3-12 helped dismiss them for just 87 in reply.

Westhoughton gained a vital win in the fight to avoid relegation with an eight-wicket victory over Bradshaw at The Rigbys. The home side went in first and although Ross Dickinson made 42 and Joe Legg 22, they were restricted to a total of 139-8 with Jordan Higham taking 3-17.

Westhoughton then chased down their target in the 27th over thanks mainly to a second-wicket stand of 117 between Glenn Bullock, who hit 50, and Jamie McAndrew who scored an unbeaten 66.

Farnworth also kept their survival hopes alive with a six-wicket win at Kearsley, which means that just five points separate them, currently in the second relegation spot on 32 points, and Westhoughton, who lie two places above them on 37. Heaton are sandwiched between them on 35.

Kearsley were totally undone by the bowling of Shujat Ali (5-20) and Abdullah Ishaq (5-38), eventually being bowled out for just 102 with the main contributions coming from Chiranth Shivakumar (28) and Stephen Pellowe (33).

Ali then chipped in with 34 as he and David Rushton (20) helped their side home with six wickets to spare.
