CALLUM Grant rose to the challenge of taking on three races over two days by emerging with a trio of podium positions at the 2018 HSCC Oulton Park Gold Cup meeting.

The Bolton driver showed his enormous potential over the Bank Holiday weekend with consistently impressive performances in Formula Ford 2000 races on both the Sunday and Monday and a Formula Ford 1600 race.

It was the first time Grant had entered three races in the same weekend, and it paid off with three excellent finishing positions which will benefit him when the overall championship places are announced at the end of the season.

The weekend started brightly for the man who is supported in his racing by his father’s business, Nigel Grant Motor Engineers, and sponsored by the Rose and Crown pub in Edgworth.

After qualifying in pole position on the Saturday in his more powerful Formula Ford 2000, he finished second in the first race the following day.

Then on Monday, again in the Formula Ford 2000, he crossed the finish line third in his first race before switching to his regular Formula Ford 1600 for his second of the day.

With the pressure on to perform, and again starting from pole, Grant made a break from the pack and built up a comfortable lead until he was overtaken and slipped back to second where he finished.
