IN a repeat of last year’s Section A play-off series involving Rupert Ladies, Darcy Lever A and Little Lever XI, Rupert beat Darcy for the first time this season with a 183-136 victory.
Little Lever, fresh from last week’s Chadwick Cup victory, struggled to keep the momentum going against Darcy.
Having beaten them three times already this season, Lever failed at the fourth attempt as they went down 214-170.
Rupert required victory to secure the championship and Little Lever needed to win to make it a three-way tie.
Rupert won with a declared score of 172-138 to clinch another league title.
In Section B, ABC beat Apollo 98-85 in a play-off for second place – the championship having already been secured weeks earlier by Future XI.
Section D required a play-off to decide the runner-up to The New Inn, and Westhoughton beat Aspull 158-130.
In Section F, a tie for first and second place was needed to separate Chorley and Adlington with the Chorley outfit emerging victorious 160-120.
The closest result of the week was the Section M runner-up game between Hilltops and the Y-Nots which the latter won 197-186.
The final two games of the season will be played at Darcy Lever Cricket Club, Hacken Lane when the 1pm match sees Sacred – champions of Section H – face St Teresa’s, the runners-up in Section J, in the Finestyle Windows And Doors Dorothy Clarke Handicap Trophy.
The handicap system gives St Teresa’s a start of 40 points.
The second game, the Finestyle Windows And Doors Festival Handicap Trophy, will be played at 2.30pm between sees Section A champions Rupert meet runners-up Darcy Lever A in a scratch start.
