THIS week's rummage around the old photographs at The Bolton News has unearthed this picture of Little Lever School Under-14s from May 1989.

The information with the photograph says the football team were winners of the Bolton Schools' Championships and joint winners of the u14s' five-a-side competition.

It adds the team are pictured with teacher Tony Threlfall but there are no names of the players.

Can you put names to faces or did you play for the team in that successful season?

Do you have any tales to tell from that time?

Email david.pye@nqnw.co.uk with any recollections.

THE second picture is again the one published a fortnight ago in the sporting nostalgia section that features Mount St Joseph's School team from 1987.

After several responses last week, we have again had readers get in touch this week with information about that side.

Steve Kay said: "I played in the game – I am second right on the top row next to the keeper.

"The names I remember are, back, from left, Mick Garfin, John ?, Kevin Connolly, ??, Damien Gray, me, Martin ?; front, Peter Maloney, Gerrard McGreavy, Matt Santley, ?? ,Troy Tattersall, Aaron ?, Michael Whitehead.

"We beat Thornleigh 3-2 in that game.

"The game was broadcast on Granada TV highlights because referee Neil Midgley reffed the game on the Tuesday night as a warm-up to the FA Cup final at Wembley on the Saturday.

"Thornleigh players included Mike Pollitt (ex-Wigan) and Lee Mason (now a Premier League referee).

"From memory Chris Taylor scored two for Thornleigh from distance and Mick Garfin got at least two of Mount's goals."
