BOLTON Hockey Club men's first team continued their winning start to the season with a 6-2 home victory over South Lakes.

They responded instantly to going a goal behind at their Woodhey High School pitch when Joel Reiss converted a poacher’s finish.

The dominant home side went ahead with a move straight from the training ground in which Danny Shaw was key and youngster Sam Dorsey the scorer.

Two goals from Danny Shaw and one each for Keith Stanley and the youngest player on the pitch, George Brennan, sealed the win for Bolton, who face Southport first team on Saturday in a top-of-the-table clash.

Bolton men's second team lost 3-2 to Horwich first team, while the third team romped to a 5-2 victory over Fylde's fourth team.

Bolton ladies' first team produced a superb comeback from 3-1 down to secure their first win of the season against Didsbury Greys.

Their 4-3 victory was earned with goals by Jane Topping, Jenny Brookfield, Louise Bull and Jessica Harwood.

They are at home to Didsbury Northern on Saturday.

The ladies' second team lost 5-2 to Manchester Mantos.

After Viv Lake and Jess Flegg failed to take early opportunities Mantos went ahead against the run of play and doubled their lead before a close-range goal by Lake halved the deficit.

Mantos scored again in the second half but Debbie Nicholson pulled it back to 3-2 when she coolly converted a penalty flick.

But it was not to be for Bolton as the Manchester side added two quick goals to seal the points.
