THIS week's delve into the sporting archives at The Bolton News has unearthed this picture of the Bolton Under-14s football team who were preparing for a trip to the USA in August 1978.

THE second picture was printed in last week's nostalgia section and featured the Walker Institute side from 40 years ago.
Reader Brian Ratcliffe recognised himself on the picture and emailed: "The players are, back row, from left, John Lyons, Dave Fitton, Paul Fitton, me, Glen Dickinson, Dave Bradley, Dennis Haslam; front, Dennis Cooper, ?, Paul Thompson and Gordon Fisher.
"We went on to win the league in the Bolton Combination, Hospital Cup and Westhoughton Charity Cup that season."
