LOSTOCK AC's Tony Marlow turned in a dominant performance at the 3 Towers ultramarathon to finish seventh overall and first in his age group.

Starting and finishing in Darwen, the 70k race visits all three of the west Pennines' most prominent landmarks, namely Darwen Jubilee Tower, Rivington Pike and Peel Tower at Holcombe Moor, and involves 2,133m of ascent.

Running in accordance with Full Runners Association rules, Marlow finished in a time of 9hrs 16mins 24secs.

One of Lostock's newest members, Gareth Pratt, marked an impressive debut in the green vest with a time 1:58:42 at the Rivington Trail half marathon, while Melonie Crompton made her return to competitive running after having a baby with an equally impressive 53:03 at the Team Deane memorial 10k.

Away from running, Alan Mather and Mark Davis headed to Penrith for the Eden Valley Classic sportif – a 60-mile cycle sportif taking in the beautiful Eden Valley south towards Snap and then back through Appleby in Westmoreland, finishing in 4:30:00.

In parkrun, Paul O'Brien and Karen Taylor produced times of 23:38 and 29:51, respectively, at Bolton, while Andy Laycock turned in a time of 23:29 at Haigh Hall parkrun with Mark Shuttleworth finishing at Worsley Woods in 22:09.
