THE top two teams in the BSF Over-35s Football League Division One met on Sunday when Radcliffe Old Boys A hosted Barhill and left the table unchanged as they drew 2-2.

Paul Walsh and Darren Buckley scored for the home side but a Barry Massey double for Barrhill levelled the result.

Queen Lizzy and Bar Lane Bowling Club went into their match with just one point apiece and both did their best to alter the situation as they produced eight goals.

But goals from Lee Whiteley, Russell Fox and Aaron McCarthy gave Queen Lizzy a 5-3 victory despite Mark Sloan (two) and Leon Hamilton scoring for the visitors.

Salford Victoria also netted five in their match at home to AFC Dobbies A for whom Mark Longshaw scored a consolation, Allan Houghton (two), Marc Bailey, John Smith and Tony Weall the Victoria scorers.

In Division Two, Dobbies B went down 4-2 to Tika Taka Volunteers who recorded their first victory of the season and move above Dobbies in the table.

Andrew Benjamin and Peter Bruce scored for Dobbies B, with Lee Burns, John Powell and a Wes Naylor double winning the game for Tika Taka.

Leaders Horwich St Mary’s and BLGC fought out a goalless draw.

Three games in Division Three produced 23 goals, the highest number at the Lever Arms who scored four and conceded five to Tavern Vets.

Simon Dolan, Paul Grindy, James Dunn and Richard Clare scored for Lever but they were undone by an Ian Teasdale hat-trick, and a goal apiece for John Googhan and Kevin Wigley for Tavern.

Adam Greenhalgh and Barry Davis goals for bottom side Radcliffe Vets B were not enough to prevent them going down 6-2 at home to joint leaders Gidlow Athletics for whom Martin Meehan scored four and Lee Sherman and Warren Collier one each.

A Mark Drew hat-trick for Royal Farnworth Vets earned them a point against league leaders Radcliffe Old Boys B for whom Mark Owen (two) and Jamie Gledhill hit the target.

Goals were also plentiful in Division Four with 31 in total including 10 at Atherton and Wigan.

Joint leaders Heaton Casuals won 7-3 at Wigan Town and stay ahead of Ainsworth thanks to their superior goal difference.

Dean Ainscough, Mark Cowburn and Marc Burch goals for Wigan were negated by a Clint McLoughlin hat-trick, two for Rob Walsh and one each for Damien Smith and Chris Beresford for Heaton.

Ainsworth kept up the pressure and remain unbeaten after beating PF Bury 6-2 at home.

Mark Crowther scored both goals for the visitors but they were blown away by a Gareth Harrison brace and one each for Michael Jefferson, Jack Coyle, Danny Coyle and Paul Rosco.

Although well off the pace, Atherton Town are third in the table and won 6-4 at home game to Unity Brook to double their points. Peter Carson hit a hat-trick, Martin Jordan two and Peter Higgins one while Mark Whitney, Paul Wheeler, Steve Williams and Matt Ward replied for Unity Brook.

Deans Youth moved off the bottom of Division Four on goal difference by beating Bury Seniors 2-1 thanks to two goals by Steve Lockett. Anthony Garnett scored for Bury.
