EX-WANDERERS striker Jamie Proctor expects to be fighting fit and is hoping to shoot down his old club this weekend.

Proctor has been laid up with a groin problem in recent weeks but, while he insists there is no needle, he is keen to get one over on the Whites when they visit the New York Stadium tomorrow.

The 26-year-old left Bolton for South Yorkshire for £75,000 in the summer of 2017 after failing to dislodge established lone frontman Gary Madine.

Proctor found the net just once for the Whites, in an EFL Cup match against Blackpool, though a loan spell at Carlisle brought him a further four goals in 19 games.

He fared no better at Rotherham the next year as, though he played six games at the start of the campaign for the Millers, his last appearance came at the end of August as a serious knee injury ended his season.

This term Proctor – who recently signed a contract extension to stay at the New York Stadium until 2021 – already has three league and cup goals to his name and is expected to be available for selection tomorrow.

“Personally for me playing against any of your old clubs is always good so if I can be involved that will be a big bonus for me,” he told the media in Yorkshire.

“I didn’t play as many games as I would have liked, but that was due to the form of Gary Madine.

“We were playing one up front and Gaz was playing really well – there wasn’t much I could do about it, to be honest.

“It would be the same for me, if I was in the team playing well every week then I wouldn’t expect to come out of it.

“That was the case, the team were doing really well, they got promoted that season, so the team never changed really.

“Bolton have started to drop a few points lately but they have had a strong start to the season so it will be a tough game.

“They have settled well and they don’t concede too many goals so, just like any game in this division, it will be hard.”
