WANDERERS are not the only Championship side who are going through the mill at the moment.

Nigel Adkins' Hull City come to the University of Bolton Stadium sitting second bottom, having seen three points slip through their fingers in their last two games against Preston and Bristol City.

Late goals have proved the Tigers' undoing in their two recent outings, ramping up the importance of a positive result against Wanderers.

Defender Elphick, on loan from Aston Villa, accepts his side have got to wise up if they are to avoid a season of struggle.

“We need to get better at seeing games out," he said. "We need to wise up and put things right as soon as possible.

“We’re still in touch with the other teams in and around the foot of the table and I firmly believe we’re just one result away from sparking something and getting some momentum.

“The effort and endeavour is there from everyone. We’re doing the right things on the training ground day in, day out so we’ve just got stick at it and continue to work hard and show the same commitment and effort.

“I firmly believe in the group of players we’ve got here. We’re just lacking the little bit of confidence but we’re also just one win away from doing something.

“When we get that result, the belief and confidence will come and, hopefully, we’ll start shooting up the table.”
