ON Thursday evening, I had the pleasure of watching ‘Did Those Feet’, the play put on by the Octagon in exile, in the Lion of Vienna Suite.

As it was about the historic 1923 cup run, one good thing about it was coming to the University of Bolton stadium and watching Bolton win.

There were no such guarantees of a win as we met for our Doombar deliberations. The ‘Parkinson Out’ brigade are gaining voice after the pathetic display against Nottingham Forest on Wednesday.

Feelings are divided, with his supporters pointing out the miraculous achievements of the past two seasons and the fact he has had to start again from scratch this season.

My own view is that it is taking longer than expected to get this squad to gel and we are rapidly eroding the cushion that the early results gave us. He needs time, but time is a precious commodity in today’s football world.

It wasn’t all doom and gloom before the match as evidently Hull City were the one team with a worse record than us over the last 10 matches in the Championship.

So, we were hoping for a better performance and a good result. Phil Parkinson rang the changes and went for an attacking formation with two up front.

There was a definite improvement with the tireless Erhun Oztumer making himself available all over the pitch and Clayton Donaldson our man of the match with his best performance for us so far.

But we fell behind to a soft goal and we never found that cutting edge in front of their goal.

David Marshall in their goal was not seriously challenged all match.

Another home match, another defeat. That’s three in a row now without scoring.

All football fans think that they are experts at managing and know what’s going wrong and how to put it right. Negative tactics, too many changes, players not performing have all been mooted from the terraces. If only it was so simple to sort out.

I have no doubt that Parkinson and Steve Parkin are working their socks off to find the solution and get us back on track. Our club is famous for overcoming adversity and now is the time, more than ever, to invoke the Bolton spirit and stick together.

Things can not be allowed to get much worse but Mr Anderson does not have a decision to make just yet.
