AFTER a week’s cup break, league matches continued last week in the Bolton and District Table Tennis League.

Top of the Premier Division Ramsbottom Town A took full advantage of playing bottom-of-the-table Hilton B by trouncing them with a maximum 27-2 scoreline.

With eight points behind them, Flixton Cricket Club A played Radcliffe Cricket Club and comfortably won 23-9 with nine points from Stephen Scowcroft and Tony Worthington.

Third-placed Ramsbottom Town B came unstuck against Flixton Cricket Club B who had an excellent 25-9 win with nines from Jordan Potts and Anthony Bates. Fourth-placed Little Lever Club A beat a Nomads side just below them 23-8 with nines from Graham Jeffries and Ron Durose.

Hilton A beat Ladybridge A 26-6 with Robert Hall and Andrew Michnowiec both winning nine.

In Division One, the top teams all had wins apart from top-of-the-table Burning Desire.

They remain top despite suffering a shock defeat at the hands of second-placed Wigan TTC 24-12 with nines from Wigan’s Daniel Watkinson and Paul Clark.

Third-placed Polonia Club A beat Wingates 21-10 with nine from Lukasz Serdiuk, while fourth-placed Coburg also won, 20-16 against Farnworth Social Circle A despite a resisting nine from John Hutchinson.

The home derby match between Hilton C and their D team resulted in the higher-ranked outfit winning 20-15 helped by a nine from Division Two stand-in Jei Makino.

A mid-table clash saw Ramsbottom Town D outplay Meadow Ben A with a maximum 27-6 score, while Little Lever B took advantage of a one-man Heaton Cricket Club A 26-6.

Division Two’s leaders Hilton E maintained their impressive form with a 21-14 victory over fifth-placed Heaton Cricket Club B with nines from Makino and Matthew Kennedy.

Second-placed Bolton TTC also won 20-11 against Farnworth Social Circle B assisted by a nine from Peter McCormick.

Surprisingly, third-placed Meadow Ben B just lost out 13-15 to ninth-placed Brasszone, whose Phil Petts was on his usual top form with a nine.

Fourth-placed St Paul’s Peel won 21-13 against Ladybridge B with the usual nine from Lee Devenport.

Mid-table Hilton Top Spinners had a close 20-17 win against second-bottom Hilton F, and Polonia Club B had a 25-9 win against bottom-of-the-table Walkden Methodists with nines from Stefan Jankowski and Vojtech Sanc.

Division Three’s top team Meadow Ben C had a shock when fifth-placed Meadow Hill A beat them 23-11 thanks to nines from new signing John Nuttall and the ever-improving Bob Woodcock.

Irlam Steel Social Club, who have gone from mid-table to second place, comfortably beat bottom club Meadow Hill B by a maximum 27-3 scoreline.

Third-placed Meadow Ben D won 19-12 against Hilton G with nines from Neil Cowburn and Philip Calvert.

Fourth-placed Polonia Club C suffered a shock heavy defeat to fifth-placed Farnworth Social Circle C 24-6, Ben Wyatt and Chris Lord winning nine points each for Farnworth, while Ladybridge C beat juniors Hilton I just below them 18-11 despite a resisting nine from Jamie Sutcliffe.
