LUCA Navarro scored twice to send Wanderers’ Under-23s to the top of the Professional Development League with victory against Sheffield Wednesday.
Youth team graduate Navarro opened the scoring on 31 minutes after good work down the left from Joe Muscatt and Luca Connell, firing his shot home from just outside the penalty box.
Joe Pritchard had a couple of chances to double the lead but was denied by Owls keeper Andy McCulloch. The midfielder then won a penalty, which allowed Navarro to step up and make it two from the spot.
Wednesday made a strong start to the second half and had a header cleared off the line by Connell as they looked to get a foothold in the game.

Preslav Borukov fired one effort narrowly wide and had another raid on goal halted by a superb covering challenge from Yoan Zouma.
The Owls continued to press – Ciaran Brennan steering a header off target and Jordan Lonchair being denied by James Aspinall’s double save.
The breakthrough finally arrived with three minutes to go, Jack Stobbs’ cross-shot ending up in the back of the net to set up a tense finale.
Wanderers held out, however, to claim a fourth consecutive win which took them above Leeds United to the top of the table.
