THE funeral of Lostock Cricket Club stalwart Norman Taylor will take place at 11am next Friday (November 16) at St Elizabeth’s Church in Horwich.

Norman, who had been associated with the club for more than 50 years, passed away suddenly last Saturday at the age of 77.

He joined the club in the early 1960s from Horwich Churches League club St Catherines and went on to be a key member of the club for the remainder of his life.

Norman served the club with distinction, including a 13-year stint captaining the second XI, during which time he led them through the most successful period in their history.

He also served as club treasurer for 18 years and was a volunteer groundsman until the club moved from their Lostock Lane site.

A well-known and popular figure in the Bolton Association, Norman was also a leading member of Lostock Bowling Club for many years and will be sorely missed by the members of both clubs as well as his family and friends.

Following the funeral and committal at Overdale East Chapel Norman’s wake will be held at Lostock CC.

Norman is survived by his wife Christine and children Chris, Stephen and Andrea.

The family have asked that any donations in lieu of flowers be made to Liveseys Funeral Service in aid of Kidney Research UK.
