BOLTON Hockey Club ladies' first team suffered a 3-1 away defeat to league leaders Wilmslow.

The hosts took a 2-0 lead into the second half and extended it before Bolton pulled one back with a quick passing move out from the back.

Jessica Harwood put Jenny Brookfield through on goal only to be denied by a last-ditch tackle that prevented the shot been taken and a penalty flick awarded which Jess Stanners slotted into the bottom corner.

It was not to be for Bolton, however, as Horwich hit back to score the winning goal.

After Sophie Eardley and Lucy Griffiths were denied by the visiting goalkeeper, Griffiths capitalised on a misunderstanding in their opponents' defence, her shot trickling over the line.

The visitors remained in the ascendancy in the second half and equalised.
