JAKE Turner made his comeback as Wanderers recovered from a goal down to claim a point against Sheffield United.

Keeper Turner had been side-lined for several weeks with a fractured wrist sustained during a loan spell with Stalybridge Celtic.

He was beaten just before half time when Yoan Zouma turned Stephen Mallon’s cross into his own net.

Wanderers’ place at the top of the Development League North table was under threat until Joe Pritchard came up with a late header from Harry Brockbank’s set piece.

Pritchard almost stole the win at the bitter end, too, as his half-volley from another Brockbank centre bounced off the crossbar.

David Lee’s side were four games undefeated going into the game despite having some of their first team regulars sent out on loan for senior experience.

Luke Murphy was drafted in from Phil Parkinson’s first team, and the former Leeds United man curled an early shot just wide of the post as Bolton made a bright start.

Jordan Amissah pushed aside a free-kick from Luca Navarro, who then crossed for Jordan Boon to bring another save out of the Blades keeper with a header.

Zouma’s own goal on 32 minutes gave the visitors some spark and Turner had to be alert to stop a stinging effort from George Broadbent. Simeon Oure also put a flicked header inches over the bar.

Amissah was at his best again after the restart, making a fine double save from Matthew Argent-Barnes, who had seized in unmarked on to Pritchard’s flicked header.

Desperately hunting the equaliser, it was Pritchard who finally found the key with another close range effort. But just as the celebrations died down, Oure conspired to miss a chance at close range which should have seen the Blades’ lead restored.

Pritchard still had time to hit the woodwork in four minutes of injury time – but the point was enough to keep Bolton ahead of Burnley at the top of the table after 13 games.

The young Whites’ next match is currently scheduled to be November 30 at Crewe Alexandra.
