BOLTON Olympic Wrestling Club were the stars of the British Junior Wrestling Championships.

They were the best-performing club at the British Wrestling Association's most prestigious event of the year with seven gold medals, two silver, two bronze and two fourth-place finishes.

BOWC took 13 athletes to the championships in Peterborough and returned with more national champions than any other club on the day.

Bolton's gold medallists were Arin Sekirden, Tommy Costello, Megan Kipling, Charlie Meadows, Cameron Leader, Lucy McGrath and Declan Fisher.

Harry Meadows and Grace Costello took silver with Mia Kipling and Harvey May winning bronze and Ruby Leader and Alfie Gallagher the fourth-place finishers.

Club coach Lee Meadows said: “This has been an amazing year for our club and we have had some fantastic success recently.

"Our athletes did themselves, their parents, their coaches and the town of Bolton proud.”
