TOP Club sent out a strong message they are not going to give up their title without a fight as they convincingly beat leaders Newbury 7-3.

The Bolton At Home Sunday League returned to action after the festive break and Travis Vaughn hit the ground running with a hat-trick for the Little Hulton men at Harper Green.

It was a first league defeat of the season for Newbury and evidence they have a fight on their hands to win the league as Top Club went level on points with them at the top.

Top Club were under no illusions if they did not win their chances of retaining the title would be slim.

Newbury took the lead with an excellent strike from Karl Dunbarton after 10 minutes which Vaughn cancelled out five minutes later with a superb individual goal.

Newbury restored their lead on 30 minutes when Dunbarton got his and his team's second with a powerful strike.

Top Club levelled again on 40 minutes through Adam Doyle and took the lead a minute before the break when Lewis Porter made no mistake with only the goalkeeper to beat.

It was 4-2 five minutes after the break when prolific striker Vaughn got his second which seemed to deflate Newbury, who found themselves 5-2 down when Doyle notched his second.

Vaughn completed his hat-trick with 15 minutes left, and, after Chris Lyons pulled one back for Newbury, veteran winger Arron Monks completed the rout.
