WANDERERS have completed the signing of goalkeeper Remi Matthews from Norwich City on an 18-month contract.

The 24-year-old could go straight into first team contention on Monday night against West Brom, with Ben Alnwick suffering from a hip problem.

Matthews went back to Carrow Road at the start of the month because of Bolton’s registration embargo but with that now seemingly out of the way – the path was clear to complete the deal.

Phil Parkinson said: “We are very pleased that Remi has completed his move. He’s a young keeper who brings real quality for the number one shirt and it’s great to have him back up here.”

Matthews made four appearances for Wanderers earlier this season, including the 1-0 victory against Derby County at the University of Bolton Stadium.

Wanderers have also completed the signing of free agent Gary O’Neil until the end of the season.

The 35-year-old has been suffering with an Achilles injury but is expected to return to training shortly.

“We are really pleased that the deal for Gary has been finalised,” Parkinson added. “Not only does he offer experience but brings quality to the team and we are looking forward to working with him again.”

Wanderers have also confirmed that the HMRC winding-up order has been paid.
