WANDERERS have given a trial to Manchester United defender Tyrell Warren.

The 20-year-old defender played for David Lee’s Under-23s in a 2-0 defeat at Leeds United this afternoon alongside first teamers such as Mark Little, Erhun Oztumer and Joe Williams.

Manchester-born Warren worked his way up from Under-13s level with United and can play at right-back, left-back or centre-half. He played UEFA Youth League football with the Under-18s before stepping up to Under-23s level, where he has played eight times for the Reds in Premier League Two this term.

He was name-checked in 2016 by Jose Mourinho early in his tenure at Old Trafford as one of the young players he wanted to integrate into the first team ranks – but has thus far failed to make a senior appearance.

It is understood he has trained at Lostock for the last few days and that the defender is out of contract in the summer.

Jordan Stevens and Robbie Gotts did the damage for Leeds at Elland Road, in a result which leaves Wanderers fifth in the Professional Development League North table.

Both Williams and Oztumer hit the woodwork in the first half for the young Whites.
