WANDERERS (4-2-3-1)

REMI MATTHEWS…6

Made one superb double save in the second half and helped to keep the score down but not an afternoon he’ll celebrate.

CALLUM CONNOLLY…4

Started at right-back ahead of Olkowski and Little, which didn’t look a great choice in the end. Lawrence caused constant problems.

DAVID WHEATER…6

Fought valiantly and even tried to get things going in attack but with Derby in this sort of mood there was no living with them.

MARK BEEVERS…5

Defended well early on but Waghorn got the better of Beevers in the end, pulling him out of position time and time again.

ANDY TAYLOR…5

Another of Wanderers’ warriors – just not able to stem the tide as Wilson and Bogle doubled up on the Derby right.

JOE WILLIAMS…5

Didn’t give the ball away as much as others in a Wanderers shirt but at no point could you say he was on top in midfield.

LUCA CONNELL…5.5

Steep learning curve for the youngster. Tidy on the ball but the defensive side of his game will need to improve.

SAMMY AMEOBI…4

Struggled to get involved in the game. Has looked for some time as if he cannot wait for the season to end.

GARY O’NEIL…4.5

Works hard but three games in a week looks a step too far for the veteran midfielder.

WILL BUCKLEY…4

Hasn’t made a significant impact on a game for some time now. Looks bereft of confidence.

CLAYTON DONALDSON…5

Just looked frustrated as the ball was continually punted into channels for him to chase as second favourite. Went close late on.

Subs: Little 5, 60 (for Buckley) – Made a decent case for inclusion against Villa.

Noone 72 (for Ameobi) – Didn’t get much of a chance to shine.

Not used: Alnwick, Oztumer, Wilson, Magennis, Pritchard

The Bolton News:

Derby County (4-3-3): Roos; Bogle, Keogh, Tomori, Cole; Mount, Johnson, Bryson; Lawrence, Waghorn, Wilson.

Subs: Bird 70 (for Bryson), Marriott 76 (for Waghorn), Jozefzoon 83 (for Wilson)

Not used: Carson, Wisdom, Bennett, Huddlestone

Referee: Andy Davies 7/10 – Let the game flow quite well and only brought out a couple of cards to calm things down in the first half.
