TO mark St George’s Day we’re asking readers to nominate their all-time English Wanderers XI.

Chief football writer Marc Iles has listed his team below – but can you do better?

Tweet @MarcIles or email marc.iles@nqnw.co.uk with your team and we'll include some of the best on our website throughout the day.

The Bolton News: Eddie Hopkinson

GOALKEEPER – Eddie Hopkinson (pictured)

Hoppy played more times for Wanderers than anyone else and despite his relative lack of height, was the best in the land at one stage. An easy pick.

RIGHT-BACK – Roy Hartle

A gentleman off the pitch but a warrior on it, no Wanderers all-time XI would be complete without Hartle at full-back.

CENTRE BACK – Paul Jones

It still rankles with Wanderers fans of the era that Jones didn’t get a proper look in for England. A classy ball-playing defender before they were fashionable.

CENTRE-BACK - Gary Cahill

Transformed from a talent into a genuine international class defender who went on to win a flurry of medals and trophies with Chelsea. Just a shame Bolton didn’t get more for him…

LEFT-BACK – Tommy Banks

You can’t have Hartle without Banks. And for good measure I’d make sure that the pitch had a gravel track surrounding it, so they could once again strike fear into opposition wingers.

The Bolton News:

RIGHT WING – Peter Thompson

Arrived at the end of an illustrious career with Liverpool but still had bags of class, proving to be a terrace favourite at Burnden Park.

CENTRE MIDFIELD – Kevin Nolan

Grew up in front of fans’ eyes to become a goal-getting midfielder and a right royal pain in the backside for opposition defenders (and goalkeepers).

CENTRE MIDFIELD – Peter Reid (pictured)

The jewel in Wanderers’ crown at one stage, and had it not been for injury his career might have hit the heights even earlier. A complete midfielder in his prime.

LEFT WING – David Lee

Could pop up on either wing with a never-ending supply of energy and pace. Arguably more effective when played off the left… Just ask Liverpool.

The Bolton News: Nat Lofthouse

STRIKER – Nat Lofthouse ‘Sir Nat’ is probably the first name on this team-sheet, or any other discussing the greats of Bolton Wanderers. Fearless, proud and once the pride of English football.

STRIKER – Kevin Davies Super Kev had many of Nat’s attributes and that’s exactly why Wanderers fans took him to their hearts. A modern-day Bolton legend.

Subs: Dick Pym, Harry Goslin, Sam Allardyce, Alan Thompson, David Jack, Frank Worthington.
