LAURENCE Bassini has been given another 48 hours to produce the goods after a meeting with the EFL tonight.

The former Watford owner is vying to take control at Wanderers and met with Shaun Harvey this evening to put forward a business plan and his proof of funding.

A statement released by the EFL tonight has confirmed, however, that the required documentation was not received, and they have allowed Bassini until Thursday to rectify the situation.

“The EFL’s Chief Executive has tonight met with Laurence Bassini regarding a possible change of control at Bolton Wanderers,” the statement read. “The EFL has not received all the information it requires and Mr Bassini has committed to return with the relevant details in the next 48 hours.”

Wanderers put out a statement earlier today confirming Bassini’s meeting and warning that if the matter was not settled tonight that negotiations would “cease with immediate effect”. It has not yet been clarified by the club if they will grant an extension.

The club’s statement read: “Further to the club statement made on the Saturday, April 27, 2019, both Ken Anderson and Laurence Bassini, and their respective advisors, have held further dialogue.

“All parties are working for the best outcome for the football club and its supporters and everyone’s efforts are focussed on a successful conclusion.

“Following the arrangement for Mr Bassini to meet with Shaun Harvey this evening, it has been agreed that the previous deadline for conclusion set as the close of business Monday has been extended to allow these discussions to take place.

“All parties have agreed that in the event of the EFL not being satisfied with the proposed funding structure presented by Mr Bassini then negotiations will cease with immediate effect and Mr Bassini will withdraw his interest in the club.

“No further statement will be made by either party prior to the mutual deadline set for conclusion of the matter.”
