It was quite emotional meeting on a near-deserted UniBol car park for the coach to Nottingham for the final match in this horrible, depressing and shocking season.

Every day seems to bring more bad news, culminating in the disgrace of not being able to fulfil all our fixtures and the continuation of the Ken Anderson-Laurence Bassini farce.

It would be funny but for the tragic human consequences of the owner’s actions.

Pre-match in the Brewhouse, we enjoyed a good selection of real ales and wondered what the team and performance would be.

No doubt they will be claiming injuries but there were several names missing from the team sheet.

On the positive side, it meant that Phil Parkinson could start with a couple of youngsters and pack the bench with the rest.

Overall the match was fairly even.

The effort was mostly there but as usual the quality wasn’t, although we picked up with the introduction of youngsters Ronan Darcy and Jack Earing.

Throughout, the Bolton crowd showed their undying support and gave the players good applause at the end.

The Forest fans gave us sympathetic applause on the way out too.
As the season has ended, we are now heading into the unknown and it is frightening.

With the latest High Court case to come on Wednesday, administration is looming and depending upon how that pans out, liquidation may follow.

There’s not a lot we can do but watch it all unfold before our eyes in the coming days.

Can the club can be rescued financially and go forward as a going concern?

What punishment will the EFL dish out for the likely administration and not fulfilling our fixtures?

What playing staff will we have? Will we still have a stadium and hotel?

We will have to see where we end up and then rebuild from there.

Any prospective new owners will have to come up with a plan to run the club very much within its means.

If we start next season in League One with only a 12-point deduction, I will say that would be a good outcome all things considered.
