ERHUN Oztumer says he is ready to rip-up League One again – if Wanderers become a more stable club.

The former Peterborough United and Walsall playmaker was reduced to a bit-part last season but has enjoyed personal success in the third tier, having been voted into the division’s team of the year two times in a row.

In total, he boasts a record of 37 goals in 135 appearances at this level of football.

Now, with Bolton looking to reform a competitive squad under new ownership, the 28-year-old says he is confident he can be a central figure.

“Over the past few years I played in League One I feel like I improved every time,” he told The Bolton News. "I got more and more comfortable expressing myself on the ball.

“When I feel safe and secure, it’s when a club gets the best out of me.

“Last year at Bolton didn’t work out because with everything going on off the pitch it just wasn’t a fun place to be around. And I play better with a smile on my face.

“I want to play like I’m with my mates in the park. I want to enjoy football again.”

Oztumer has been strongly linked with a move to Charlton Athletic over the summer but his focus, for the time being, is on helping Wanderers get back to normality.

“It has been hard – it hasn’t felt like a proper club,” he said. “The things going around us, it has just been impossible to enjoy playing your game.

“We keep hearing rumours that things will change and it will return to normal. And that can’t come soon enough for us, and I am sure it’s the same for the fans.

“The quicker than happens the quicker we can all move on with our careers.”

Wanderers have announced a second pre-season friendly, to be played against Oldham Athletic at Boundary Park on Saturday, July 27, kick-off 3pm.

Admission for the game is £10 for adults, £5 for concessions and £1 for Under-18s.

The Whites will also face York at Bootham Crescent on Sunday, July 14 (2pm).
