MTK Global are bringing another big night of boxing to the Bolton Whites Hotel next month.

September 13 will see both amateur and professional fighters in action, the promotional outfit that manages the career of Tyson Fury among others having enjoyed success with a similar night at the start of July.

Farnworth’s Sahir Iqbal is among those in action, the promising welterweight making his return to the ring for the first time since April.

The 23-year-old, who has won all five of his fights in the paid ranks with one knockout, was trained by Amir Khan’s former cornerman Oliver Harrison until the popular Manchester fight figure died after a battle with cancer at the end of April.

The amateur stars will kick off the Friday fight night before the professionals take over.

Joining former Bury ABC man Iqbal on the bill is Chorley’s 2018 Commonwealth Games gold medallist Lisa Whiteside.

The flyweight has won her first two fights since turning professional with the 33-year-old hopeful of facing long-time amateur rival Nicola Adams somewhere down the line, the double Olympic champion now holding a version of the world title.

Barrow’s Ross Cooksey, unbeaten in seven fights, looks likely to headline as the featherweight looks to move towards title contention.

Michael McGoldrick, Chris Brown, Amin Jahanzeb and Craig Bunn will also step through the ropes on September 13.

Promoter Johnney Roye said: “Following on from our last show, the pro-am card was well received, so we’re really looking forward to this event.

“The amateurs went first and the crowds really warmed to them and they could see what the future holds in store, plus the professional fights were fantastic too and they all boxed really well.

“Ross Cooksey was the highlight of the night and we’ll now be stepping him up as we put him towards title fights, starting with area titles.”

The card will be streamed live on YouTube channel iFL TV.

Tickets, priced £35, £60 or £80, are available from the fighters or by visiting
