THIS week's sporting nostalgia picture was sent to us by reader Andrew Dean and is of a Heaton Cricket Club Under-18s team from the 1980s.

He believes it is from around 1986 and that the team won a knockout cup.

He said: "With the Ashes currently being played the significance of this picture is that second from left sitting is Ronnie Irani, who went on to play for England.

"Top row, fifth from left, is my son, Martin Dean, while bottom row, fourth from left, is Daniel Worsley – the son of former Lancashire batsman Duncan Worsley.

"The manager was Tony Carter and the scorer, Florence Brandwood.

"Maybe others may be able to give more information."

If the picture brings back any memories or you recall any faces, email any recollections to david.pye@nqnw.co.uk.

THE second picture was part of the nostalgia section in the sports pages of The Bolton News on July 26 and is of a Kearsley CC side from the 1990s.

And it brought back memories for former scorer David Price.

His daughter, Michelle, got in touch and said: "I am emailing on behalf of my dad, David Price, who was the scorer for Kearsley Cricket Club for many years.

"The picture was actually taken just before the Hamer Cup final played at Eagley on August 4, 1996.

"The opponents that day were Tonge, who narrowly won a keenly-contested match in the final over by two wickets.

"The scores were as follows – Kearsley 210-5 (White 64), Tonge 214-8 (NP Partington 97, Anderton 76).

"The Kearsley team was, back, from left, Steve Lucas (wk), Chris Monks, David Tattersall, David Price (scorer), Kaleb Hemmings, Carlisle Stewart; front, Stephen Davies, Paul Berry, Craig Lavelle, David White, Steve Dublin (pro) and Craig Duxbury."
