WANDERERS have lost two more senior players to injury ahead of this weekend’s trip to Portsmouth.

Keith Hill confirmed after the 1-1 draw with Sunderland that goalkeeper Ben Alnwick had suffered a flare-up of an Achilles injury which meant youngster Matt Alexander was called up to the bench.

It is understood that Jake Wright, who limped off in the second half against the Black Cats, has damaged his hamstring and is unlikely to feature at Fratton Park.

Wanderers are already missing several players through injury with Daryl Muprhy (calf) the first due back in training early next month.

Full-backs Josh Earl (ankle) and Harry Brockbank, striker Chris O’Grady (knee) and centre-back Liam Edwards (groin) should be back in action by the end of October but Joe Bunney and Connor Hall are still some way from fitness.

Meanwhile, Brockbank has been nominated at the upcoming Ladbrokes North West Football Awards.

Fans can now vote for the defender, who has been shortlisted for the Rising Star prize, at the NWFA official site.

Gary O’Neil has also been shortlisted for Championship player of the season at the gala ceremony on November 11 at The Point, Emirates Old Trafford.
