THE eighth round of races in this years Central Lancs Grand Prix at the new Swinton 5 course proved a damp but successful trip for Burnden Road Runners.

First male home and 22nd overall was Lee White in 32mins 47secs, first lady home and third senior was Sarah Watton (35:26).

Further success followed in the team and age category sections with the ladies team of Lyndsay Darbyshire (36:40) Sarah Watton (35:26) and Gwen Kinloch (35:43) finishing as second ladies’ team behind a strong home Swinton team.

Darbyshire was also first FV50, while Kinloch also won her category, claiming first FV55 place. Anne Ferguson was second in the FV60 section.

Not to be outdone, the men also brought home some category victories. Andrew Duffy (35:39) was first MV55, followed by team mate Mark Cannon (35:48) who was second MV55. With a time of 39:44, Paul Christie was second V65 completing the podium finishes for Burnden.

Other results: Gareth Doherty (34:32), Aidy Ashburn (36:42), Dave Smith (38:30), Steven Bate(39:18), Don Nichol (40:19), Chris Greenall (40:53), Mark Butler (41:02), Andy Warburton (41:27), Gayle Gerrard (41:28), Linda O’Byrne (42:58), Tony Wall (45:01), Diane Wylie (46:17), Louise Wall (48:21), Cheryl Dunleavy (55:41) and Trevor Eagle (1:02:07).

Liz McClellan was in Duathlon action at Oulton Park, and she finished in an impressive third place in the ladies race and 32nd overall.

Her times were 18:06 (4.3km) in the first run, 41:23 (21km) bike and finished with another 4.3km run in 19:00.

Parkrun travellers this week included a trip to Southsea for Simon Marland (24:10) and Sue Blackman (39:40).
