THIS week’s delve into the picture archives at The Bolton News has unearthed this photograph of Church Road Primary School football team from May 1980.

The information accompanying the picture says the team enjoyed success that year after being joint league champions, runners-up in the Bolton Evening News Knockout Cup and also in a six-a-side tournament for Bolton junior schools.

Do you remember that team or recognise anyone pictured?

Did you Church Road at that time or have any other memories?

THE second picture was part of last week's sporting nostalgia section and is of the Tempest United side from 1991.

Manager Mick Farnworth saw the picture and got in touch.

He said: "It was the Open Cup on Burnden Park and Tempest won 1-0 against Elton Fold, with the goal scored by Craig Anderson – third from the left on the front row.

"I was the manager, on the left on the back row.

"The names are, back, from left, me, John Pilkington, Mark Leonard, ex-Wanderer Andy Clements, David Farnworth, captain Kevan Jones, Paul Whittingham, Steve Fellows, Dean Aldred and Brian ?, ?; front, Phil Larkin, Wayne Leonard, Craig Anderson (with mascot Brett Farnworth, ?, Ste Isley, Ray ? (with mascot Craig Farnworth – who now plays in midfield for table-toppers Tempest)."
