BOLTON School’s netball team finished second in the Girls’ School Association Trophy competition.

The Year Nine pupils travelled to Condover to take part in the 2019 edition of the annual tournament.

As well as taking part in some adventurous activities such as the Gladiator Wall, they played some competitive netball.

After a difficult first day in unseasonably warm conditions, the girls managed to secure three wins, against Cranford House, Putney High School and Streatham and Clapham B.

This was good enough for them to qualify for the Trophy competition.

The final day saw more familiar conditions – rain. After some excellent play in very tense matches, the team secured five wins out of six.

However, they could not quite do enough to beat Notting Hill and Ealing, who eventually went on to become the trophy winners. Second place in a national competition is, however, a commendable achievement.

The Chorley New Road school’s Joanne Duddle said: “The girls were very well behaved for the whole of the trip and this has been one of the best groups that we have taken in terms of their team cohesion.

“They did all of the activities together and seemed to thoroughly enjoy the weekend.”
