THE Bolton and District Table Tennis League reached the halfway point of the league season, with the tables giving a good idea of how the final standings are likely to look.

In the Premier Division, if anyone had any ideas that second-placed Ramsbottom Town A might close the gap on top team, Flixton ppong A, then they were scuppered as Flixton went to town, winning 21-11 against them with nines from Stephen Scowcroft and Pawel Orzechowski.

Third-placed Flixton ppong B were also on song as they beat Burning Desire 22-12, helped by a nine from Keith Deaville.

Fourth-placed Hilton A lost 18-16 to a Little Lever CC A side two places below them, Graham Jeffries scoring nine.

Wharton had a 25-13 win against seventh-placed Ramsbottom Town B with nines coming from Dean Walmsley and Martin Wyatt, while mid-table Coburg A were held to a surprising 16-16 draw by bottom team Hilton B despite Coburg’s Charles Musa scoring nine.

Radcliffe TTC, in ninth, lost to second-bottom Ladybridge A for whom Stephen Barber achieved nine in an 18-16 win.

Division One leaders Ramsbottom Town C had a 27-6 full points win against Hilton C while Polonia Club A, in second, suffered a 25-11 defeat to Coburg B, Ian Quinn scoring nine for them.

Third-placed Little Lever CC B maintained form with a 23-15 win against struggling North West Lions with nines from Paul Tatlock and Ian Lansdale and Hilton D had a 24-10 success over Meadow Ben A.

Wingates had a virtual walkover, 27-0 against bottom team Farnworth Social Circle A who only had two players. Mid-table Heaton CC A held Hilton E at bay with a 22-12 win with nines from David Hall and Duncan Kay.

In Division Two, Hilton Hawks are hot on the tail of Farnworth Social Circle C after beating Brass Zone 24-13, helped by a nine from Peter McCormick.

Third-placed Ladybridge B overcame fifth-placed Meadow Ben B 19-12 with nines from John Birchall and John Cole.

Hilton Top Spinners drew 16-16 with Lostock Tennis Club with John Nuttall on nine for Lostock.

Division Three’s top team, Farnworth Social Circle D, defeated Polonia Club B 19-13 thanks to nine from Peter Walker and only four points separate second, third and fourth.

Meadow Ben C beat Hilton H 25-5 with nines from Debbie Wilson and Jack Berry, Albany lost 17-16 to Meadow Ben D for whom Steven Robertson was on form with a nine.

Hilton G took advantage of bottom team Bolton Hindu Forum 24-10 with nines from Malcolm Wilcock and Nathan Donaldson and Ladybridge C faced a two-man Meadow Hill Tennis Club B, winning 25-5.
