FOUR school sides descended on Bolton St Catherine’s Academy to compete in the Dave Kelly Cup for goalball.
Matches for the paralympic sport were played on a round-robin basis, with the group standings determining the semi-final ties.
After the group matches St Osmund’s finished first with one win and two draws, followed by Moorgate and BSCA, both of whom had a win, a draw and a defeat, with Blackshaw fourth with two draws and a defeat.
The first semi-final match resulted in a narrow win for St Osmund’s with the match being decided on a golden goal after a scoreless normal time.
The host team earned their place in the final with a 3-1 victory over Moorgate.
In the third and fourth-place play-off Moorgate were 2-0 winners against Blackshaw, while the final produced a surprise win for St Catherine’s, inflicting a 3-1 loss on St Osmund’s, their first defeat of the day.
