WANDERERS go to promotion-chasing Peterborough United tomorrow with strict instructions from Keith Hill to be ready to roll up their sleeves and fight.

Boasting League One’s most prolific front two in Ivan Toney and Mo Eisa – who share 26 goals between them – Posh will start the day as heavy favourites.

But with Hill keen to make his team harder to beat away from home he is considering a change of approach at the ABAX Stadium.

“I think they’ll be looking at our away form and the goals we have conceded with a big smile on their face,” he told The Bolton News.

“I have been in a lot of fights in my life and this one is a relatively enjoyable one.

“It is hurting us a bit – but there’s a clear vision for this football club to make it successful again.

“We have to show more fight, be braver and more courageous in our decision-making. And at times we probably have to be a bit boring as well, especially away home, why not?

“What’s the definition of madness? Keep doing the same thing and expecting the result to change. So we have got to look at differences in away performances and getting more points from those games if we’re going to be competitive in the situation we’re in.”

Hill is wary of going too far on the defensive and turning Wanderers into “sitting ducks” but admits a team which has shipped 26 goals in seven away game this season needs to be more resolute.

“Away from home we were excellent down at Portsmouth and Bristol Rovers – but the two that stand out, and we can’t do again, are Rotherham and Accrington,” he said.

“It isn’t just a problem that has occurred overnight, it’s one I inherited as well, so we are looking at everything.

“It’s a difficult task. No matter what the result is, we have to forgive ourselves and move on quickly.

“There can’t be scar tissue. If someone doesn’t play particularly well people might ask me ‘well why is he playing this week?’ The answer is because he’s the best option we have in that position, so we need to help and encourage him to be better.”
